The Challenge
During my second year at McGill, I decided I wanted to get more involved in the McGill community and get more hands on experience. I had already started participating in the MDC club at the time, but I felt like I could get even more experience by getting involved with a student union.
During my time working for the SUS, I completed 4 projects: a set of stickers for the Chemistry Student Society, a sticker for the Microbiology and Immunology Student Society, and a shot glass and hoodie design for the SUS events coordinator.
I hadn't really done much work on illustrations before these projects, so it was a fun challenge to step out of my comfort zone and work on a different kind of design.
Learning Experience
These projects really helped me learn how to properly communicate with clients, keep track of my work and variations, and better receive feedback.
I also got to learn some new workflows for illustration desing, and brush up on my drawing skills. It was my first time using procreate for something other than doodling and figuring out the best way to transition from sketch to finished design was a bit of a hassle due to often losing quality in the export process.
Finally, this experience helped me become more confident in my creativity and ability to adapt to new project requests. I had a blast working on these projects and I hope you enjoy seeing them!
