The Challenge
My journey with MDC began as a simple designer, eager to gain hands-on experience and learn from real clients. During my time there, I took on additional responsibilities like marketing and website management when the opportunity arose. One of these opportunities was a logo redesign contest in which I participated and won. This lead to the creation of the current logo.
Following the previous president's departure, I assumed the role of MDC’s president and took on the task of redesigning the website. While the existing website was visually appealing it was a slightly modified template, which I felt lacked MDC's unique personality.
Learning Experience
During my journey of shaping the MDC brand, I encountered several first-time experiences in my career, such as delving into WordPress, crafting a 3D logo, establishing a comprehensive brand system, and creating social media ads.
Beyond the design evolution, this journey taught me valuable lessons in leadership. I learned how to support and guide others while working towards elevating an organization to new heights.
It was a deeply enriching experience for which I'm genuinely thankful. Meeting incredible people along the way added an extra layer of fulfillment to this unique chapter in my career.

✏️ Logo Redesign & 📣 Marketing Assets
As mentioned in the introduction, I had the opportunity of working on many projects during my time at MDC. One of the most exciting projects I had the privilege of working on was a logo redesign competition. During this initiative, our president assumed the role of a client and extended the invitation to the entire MDC community, encouraging widespread participation.
The primary objective was to modernize and establish a distinctive brand identity for MDC by replacing its outdated logo. The previous emblem featured the "Martlet," a red bird associated with McGill University. To align more closely with MDC's unique identity, the decision was made to part ways with the Martlet and craft a logo that embodied the essence of MDC.
On the project deadline, the entire team voted for their favourite logo, which ended up being the logo I created.
Besides this logo competition, I also created several marketing assets for our social media platforms in order to advertise our recruitment periods, our events and our services.
🕸️ Website Redesign
Once we identified our target market and user-base, we further developed our ideas through sketching. Our next step involved creating a low-fidelity paper prototype, which we tested with selected users to gather valuable feedback on feature preferences and layout preferences.Incorporating this feedback, we proceeded to design a high-fidelity prototype, which we also tested with additional users. For a comprehensive overview of our research process, you can refer to our Fourth and Sixth Deliverables.
